About Luke

With degrees in journalism and anthropology from Indiana University, Luke’s particular interest lies in using photography to capture and tell the everyday stories of people in beautiful and compelling ways–images that not only explain the world, but also invite the viewer into new ways of being and new ways of seeing the landscapes around us.

By primarily focusing on non-digital film photography techniques, Luke’s work speaks not only to the truth in the images he’s capturing, but also to the role of digital manipulation in all aspects of modern life. By refusing to add or remove elements from an image and by leaving artifacts of the film and print production process in the final print, he gives his images veracity while guiding viewers into conversation with the subject. This gives the viewer agency to determine for themselves the story told by the juxtaposition and framing of elements within the image, while maintaining the fidelity of the subject.
