The images featured here are high resolution scans of prints developed from 35mm black-and-white film. Purposefully eschewing digital photography and manipulation, composition and chemistry become the instruments with which the artist shines light on new perspectives and old problems. Using this journalistic lens, viewers are not so much told a story as invited into a world–invited into conversation with the subject, or to ponder the subject’s absence. And by documenting people and objects as truthfully as possible, the artist creates “safe spaces” where viewers can explore ideas of change, liminality, and even death, without fear of manipulation or reprisal.
